What to look for in the SOTU address

President Obama, who offered to work with Republicans last year to revamp the health care reform law, is expected to adopt a much different tone in Tuesday's State of the Union address. Bruised from the huge GOP electoral gains in 2010, Obama said he wanted to work in a bipartisan fashion on health care in last year's speech. Republicans scoffed at what was called an olive branch, and worked to repeal the entire law. While the GOP-led House passed such a measure, the legislation was defeated in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Rare egg producing stem cells in women's ovaries discovered

It was known till now that women were born with all the eggs they'll ever have. But now Harvard scientists have found that ovaries of young women harbor very rare stem cells capable of producing new eggs. The researchers feel that harnessing those stem cells might one day lead to better treatments for women left infertile because of disease or age.

University of South Florida professors Selim A. Chacour, David M. Eddy, Dean F. Martin, and G. Douglas Letson have been named 2015 Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors. Chacour and Eddy are in the Institute for Advanced Discovery & Innovation, Martin is in the College of Arts and Sciences and Letson holds appointments at both Moffitt Cancer Center and USF.
